Baby Wearing Workshops
Not sure what Babywearing is?
Not sure exactly why it's such a good idea?
Not sure what type of carrier to buy?
Not sure how to use it?
Not sure where to start?

Bits for Bairns offers regular workshops in Babywearing - the practice of carrying your child in a sling or baby carrier.

Topics covered include:

* What it means to 'Babywear'

* An in depth discussion on the benefits of babywearing

* A brief history of slings and babywearing around the world

* An overview of the different types of baby sling and carrier available, the pros and cons of each, and a chance to see them in real life

* Demonstrations of many of the different carrying methods available with different types of carrier

* Advice for safe babywearing

* A chance to try slings on (with your own child, or a with a weighted baby doll) supported by expert advice

* A 'sling fix clinic' - if you already own a sling and need help using it bring it along and we'll see what we can do to help

A Large collection of slings (30+) will be available at the workshop for participants to see and try. This is a unique opportunity to avoid the costly mistake of buying a sling which doesn't suit your child or your needs and simply languishes in a cupboard. The selection includes slings which are available to buy through Bits for Bairns, plus many other brands and styles too.

The workshop fee includes refereshments, plus a susbstantial booklet containing all the information covered, plus step-by-step pictorial guides, a glossary of babywearing terminology (invaluable when using the internet to shop for slings or using internet help forums), and DIY information for those who wish to make their own sling.

You are welcome to bring your baby or toddler along to the workshop. Toys and a soft sitting / crawling area will be available for children to make use of, we must however stress that there is not a creche service and parents remain responsible for their children and their safety throughout the event.

Slings from our stock will be available to buy after the event for anyone that wishes to do so.

Confirmed dates in Highlands for 2007:

We're sorry, we currently have no workshops planned due to an impending addition to our family.

We're happy to continue to offer help and advice on baby slings and carriers however, even if you're not planning a purchase with us we will be happy to try to help - simply email us.
