For anyone that carries thier child regularly there is always the problem of keeping your little one dry and warm in their sling, especially up here in the wild and windy Highlands! We tried lots of solutions - wrapping baby in blankets before putting them in the sling (bulky and impractical), wrapping a shawl around them over the sling (liable to fall of whilst walking), putting the child into waterproof clothing then into the sling (great for baby, but your sling still gets wet!), wearing a giant fleece jacket or coat over the top of baby and you (no good for back carries and you end up with lots of drafty gaps!).

We discovered there were special products on the market and started searching around for the perfect babywearing coat - and after much comparing this was what we chose, the Suse's Kindercoat.

Where some babywearing coats only allow for front carries, are not waterproof, or can only cope with one season the Kindercoat ticks all boxes! We've been using our Kindercoat regulary for almost a year now and are pleased to be able to offer this remarkable product to our customers.

The Kindercoat is actually two coats in one. Like many modern hiking jackets, it has two layers - a warm fleece inner and a waterproof outer - each of which can be worn separately according to the season. The waterproof layer on its own folds small to keep handy and is lightweight to wear in warm summer showers. The fleece layer alone is nice for chilly Spring or Autumn days when the full coat isn't needed. With both layers combined, we've found the coat to be a suberb solution for winter weather and has kept us dry and snug even in the snow (the Kindercoat is designed to protect against temperatures down to -25 degrees centigrade when worn with a sweatshirt underneath).

The Kindercoat can be used for both front and back carries - even for two children at once (one on the front and one on the back).

For a back carry simply un-popper a flap at the back to access the childs head opening. Undo the two discreet zips to to expand the back of the coat and make extra space for your little passenger. A waterproof hood for your child unfolds from a pocket.

For front carries the Kindercoat comes with an accessory panel which quickly zips onto the coats front zip to provide the extra room needed for baby. Once you have the coat on and done up poppers and a drawstring can be used to cinch the bottom of the coat in, to prevent drafts. There is also a fold-away hood for your child in the front carry position.

The front detachable panel also makes the kindercoat excellent for expectant mums tums - so the coat can be bought and used right from pregnancy. The Kindercoats clever design also means that, with all panels removed and openings closed the Kindercoat can be worn as practical everyday jacket (you wouldn't guess it was a babywearing coat) - great for when your toddler wants 'down' to walk themselves or for when you're no longer babywearing!

The Kindercoat can be used over most types of baby carrier (excluding framed hiking backpacks), including most Highstreet brands. It is suitable for both men and women.

* One zip in front insert (fleece only, for use with just the fleece inner)

Our price for the Kindercoat includes a £3 shipping suppliment towards our postage costs. This is a very heavy item to send and the suppliment allows us to keep a standard £1 P&P charge over all our other product lines.

Kindercoats are available in five sizes. Measurements of the actual coat, laid flat are below. The dress size guidelines are intended purely to assist you in narrowing your choice of sizes down before making measurements and your final choice.
